I graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science (Occupational Therapy) from La Trobe University in 1991 – so you can be confident that I have many years of experience and continuous professional development behind me. I gained my early experience in working in rehabilitation and acute medicine in Australia and the United States before settling in beautiful Far North Queensland where I have worked in hospital, community and education sectors in Cairns, the Tablelands and various communities in the Cape and the Torres Strait Islands.
I have a special interest in working with children and parents and I decided to start my own practice so that I could provide a very personalised and responsive service to the families of Cairns. I believe that parents are the experts on their own children – my role is to work with parents to add to their understanding of their child. My aim is that every parent leaves OT with practical strategies that they can implement straight away.
